Thora Birch signaled interest in returning to the Hocus Pocus franchise, saying she is “super open” to appearing in the planned third film and curious where the story leaves her character, Dani. Speaking on the red carpet, she said she would like to know “what they land on for how Dani wound up,” adding, “We’ll see.”

Her comments follow a recent on-air update from Bette Midler, who said she has read a script for the new installment and described it as “brilliant,” while noting that timing, budget and other logistics are still being worked through. Birch appeared in the original 1993 film and did not feature in the 2022 sequel, which brought back Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Kathy Najimy.

Interest in a new chapter has remained high through annual streaming spikes and seasonal programming, and cast members from across the series have indicated varying degrees of willingness to return. Birch framed her stance as open-ended and enthusiastic rather than a confirmation, grounding expectations while keeping attention on the story’s direction and the question of how legacy characters might fit into it.

Disney has not announced casting or a production start, and no release date has been set, though talk around the project has intensified during the Halloween window. Birch’s remarks arrive as fans parse whether the third film will bridge generations by weaving original characters with newer leads introduced in the sequel, a balance that would reflect how the property has grown from a modest theatrical performer into a perennial October staple.

She praised the film’s endurance over three decades, recalling that early reception was muted before it became a seasonal favorite. Her brief update keeps the spotlight on development, with creative decisions ahead likely to determine which familiar faces reappear alongside the Sanderson sisters.
