Mixed Reviews Flood in as Fast and Furious 10 Hits the US Cinemas

As Fast and Furious 10 raced into American cinemas yesterday, initial reviews began surfacing on the internet, painting a rather mixed picture. While the film’s finale, scripting, and dialogues have attracted significant criticism, the vibrant antagonist portrayed by Jason Momoa has been well-received, offering a silver lining to the largely pessimistic outlook.

Paul Bradshaw from NME magazine wrote, “When Momoa isn’t on screen and things aren’t exploding, the goofy dialogue nearly makes the movie seem parodic. Of course, no one ever tuned into Fast and Furious just for intellectual conversation, but the lengthy intermissions between the action scenes leave us with only half of what we came for. The abrupt finale is another sticking point, pulling the brakes just as the high-octane action starts to hit its stride.”

Concerns Over the Movie’s Incomplete Finale

The creative team behind the Fast and Furious franchise had theoretically split the series’ concluding act into two parts. However, a recent slip-up by Vin Diesel suggested that fans might be in for a trilogy ending. The abrupt termination, therefore, has drawn flak from reviewers.

Uproxx’s Mike Ryan expressed his surprise at the unexpected ending, stating, “The film literally stops mid-scene. After two hours and twenty minutes of relentless action, I was caught off guard when the end credits started rolling. Watching a Fast and Furious movie has always been a sort of implicit agreement: we endure an outrageous plot, chuckle through it, and then partake in the concluding barbecue celebration. This time, though, there’s no such conclusion, which makes me wonder about the audience’s reaction to an unexpectedly incomplete story.”

“Dive Into the Thrilling World of Rally Racing”: “Get behind the wheel of one of the greatest rally rivalries in history with our Race for Glory: Audi vs. Lancia Review. Experience the high-octane drama between these iconic automakers!”

An Avalanche of Praise for Momoa and a Defense of the Ridiculous

Despite the criticisms, Fast and Furious 10 has not been universally panned. Emily Zemler of the Observer defended the movie’s audaciousness, saying, “It’s the sense of absurdity that the audience experiences throughout the film that makes these movies so captivating. Fast and Furious 10 is a far-fetched spectacle. Nothing in this film could actually happen in reality, but isn’t that the magic of cinema? The franchise’s fantastical world is compelling enough. Did they introduce too many characters? Absolutely. Can you always predict the next plot twist? Definitely not. But for a couple of hours, you’ll laugh, cheer, and feel like part of the Fast Family.”

Adding to this, Tim Robey from the Daily Telegraph UK praised Momoa’s performance, emphasizing that “Momoa brings to the series what it’s always missed—a flamboyant villain and the promise of chaos, a character who rises above all and leaves nothing but destruction in his wake.”

As it stands, Fast and Furious 10’s performance on Rotten Tomatoes and Metacritic—platforms aggregating movie and television reviews—is rather lackluster. It has secured just 57% and 58% positive ratings on these platforms, respectively. Nevertheless, as the franchise has demonstrated time and again, the appeal of high-speed chases, family bonds, and outrageous stunts often transcends critical reviews.

Ever found yourself laughing at a movie that wasn’t meant to be funny? You’re not alone. We’ve gathered a unique list of 15 films that are so terrible, they end up being unintentionally hilarious. These cinematic disasters have so many missteps they leave us all giggling. If you’re in the mood for some mind-boggling, comical entertainment, we guarantee you won’t be disappointed.
