Production on the highly anticipated action sequel Bad Boys 4 continued this week, with stars Will Smith and Martin Lawrence spotted filming intense scenes on location in Miami, Florida. The duo reprised their roles as Detectives Mike Lowrey and Marcus Burnett respectively, bringing the iconic buddy cop characters back to life.
Photos captured Smith and Lawrence decked out in full tactical gear as Miami PD, seeming to film an action-packed shootout sequence right on the beach. Despite the intense fictional scenario, the actors appeared to be breaking a real sweat as they endured sweltering temperatures under the South Florida sun.
Bad Boys 4 sees Detectives Lowrey and Burnett team up once again when a villainous banker played by Eric Dane (Grey’s Anatomy) hatches an elaborate heist. Production on the sequel has endured starts and stops since initially kicking off in April 2022 with location filming in Miami and Atlanta.

In May 2022, behind-the-scenes footage leaked online showing Smith and Lawrence shooting a climactic shootout, forcing production to temporarily shut down. The leak coincided with industry-wide delays caused by the SAG-AFTRA strike in June 2022.
Many industry insiders speculated work stoppages were also related to Will Smith’s infamous slapping of Chris Rock at the 2022 Academy Awards, which harmed Smith’s public image. Combined delays pushed Bad Boys 4’s release date back an entire year to June 7, 2024.
