Much like the Perseids, Black Myth: Wukong likes to show up in August. The ARPG in the hands of Chinese studio Game Science was presented on August 20, 2020 with a 13-minute gameplay that surprised all and sundry with its graphics and gameplay.
A year later it was shown again with a trailer that showed off Unreal Engine 5 and Nvidia’s DLSS technology. It’s August 20 today and for the third year in a row Black Myth: Wukong is on time with an 8-minute footage accompanied by a cinematic trailer.
The new Black Myth: Wukong trailer, an action adventure game inspired by the classic Chinese novel Journey to the West, features Sun Wukong (or the Monkey King) in the forest as he fights a boss, or at the very least an enemy that makes things very difficult for him.
The setting has been seen before, but this foe, which our protagonist ends up escaping from, is previously unseen.
In the trailer we can also see an interface that, while remaining minimalist, provides more information by displaying the available skills on the right side of the screen.
After escaping from combat, Monkey King explores the forest, finding mushrooms and a small temple that seems to serve as a save point.
Maybe it is also a resting place where Wukong’s skills and equipment can be configured. While exploration is quiet, interface is hidden, but as the character runs he appears again.
During this interlude the hero accidentally encounters the ginseng monster, a plant important in the novel Journey to the West, for legend has it that it lengthens life.
Having overcome the confrontation with the ginseng monster, briefly appears a menu where we can see Wukong’s equipment, one section to make consumables and a bestiary that records the enemies with which our protagonist has fought.
A final confrontation that takes up half of the footage is against a red-bearded Chinese dragon. This combat lets us see many more of Wukong’s abilities, along with one of his many transformations. Here is the aforementioned 6-minute cinematic.
Black Myth: Wukon has no release date for now. What we do know is that when the game is ready, the game will be released on consoles and PC.
