Even though Guardians of the Galaxy 3 has just hit UK theaters, fans are already eager to learn about the prospects of a fourth film.

In this article, we delve into the likelihood of a Guardians of the Galaxy 4 and the possibility of one of the Guardians receiving their own solo movie.

The third installment revolves around a high-stakes mission to save Rocket Raccoon’s life, pitting the Guardians against the nefarious High Evolutionary. With the core cast returning for what seems like their last adventure, will we ever see them again?

Warning: The following section contains major spoilers for Guardians of the Galaxy 3. Proceed with caution if you haven’t seen the movie yet!

The Future of Guardians of the Galaxy

Director James Gunn has been adamant that this will be the last appearance of the current Guardians lineup. However, the key phrase is “this lineup.”

The mid-credits scene of Guardians of the Galaxy 3 introduces a new team of Guardians, featuring Rocket Racoon, Groot, Kraglin, Cosmo the Spacedog, Adam Warlock, and Phyla-Vell (one of the children rescued from the High Evolutionary).

With this new team, more cosmic adventures could be on the horizon, although Marvel has yet to confirm anything. The film does conclude with a tease of more to come, specifically for Star-Lord.

Is a Star-Lord Solo Movie in the Works?

At the end of the Guardians of the Galaxy 3 post-credits scenes, the closing text promises that “the legendary Star-Lord will return.” Chris Pratt’s Peter Quill wraps up the film back on Earth with his grandfather, leaving his future as a hero uncertain.

While no solo movie has been announced, it’s possible that Star-Lord could appear in the upcoming Avengers: The Kang Dynasty or Avengers: Secret Wars.

Chris Pratt spoke to GamesRadar+ about his Marvel future, saying, “It would be strange to continue Peter’s story without James. He’s done such a masterful job in the first three films. We really found the voice of Peter Quill together and without him, obviously I would never have this opportunity. He writes it, he directs it, he dreams up the music, it’s his imagination on screen. So to continue to tell the story, it would really be important to honor what he’s done in the first three films and to honor what the fans have grown to love about the character and not simply do it because people might show up to pay for it, you know?”

As of now, we must wait patiently to see when the legendary Star-Lord will make his next appearance.
