Fans of Star Wars Outlaws may need to look beyond Steam for its release. A visit to the official game’s website reveals a notable absence of any mention of Steam in the ‘Platforms’ section. While the website confirms availability on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S, a reference to Steam is conspicuously absent.
Instead, the website specifically highlights ‘Ubisoft Connect,’ the PC launcher developed by the game’s publisher and developer. This platform serves as Ubisoft’s direct-to-audience storefront for their internally-developed PC games, much like the Xbox storefront on PC.
Ubisoft Connect is also accessible on iOS and Android devices, providing a means for Ubisoft to launch their mobile games directly to audiences.
Signs Pointing Away from Steam
Although this omission does not definitively confirm that Star Wars Outlaws won’t be released on Steam, it strongly suggests a departure from the popular gaming platform. Ubisoft has so far not responded on this matter and we will update this article accordingly if further information becomes available.
Awaiting Ubisoft’s Clarification
Fortunately, we have some time before Ubisoft sheds light on the PC launch plans for Star Wars Outlaws. The highly anticipated game is not set to release until 2024, allowing Ubisoft ample opportunity to clarify its intentions.
Outlaws aims to captivate players with its open-world design, offering a fresh perspective on the Empire and its involvement with criminal factions.
As we eagerly await Ubisoft’s response, the anticipation for Star Wars Outlaws continues to grow. While the absence of Steam from the list of platforms raises questions, it also presents an opportunity for Ubisoft Connect to shine as the exclusive platform for this highly anticipated Star Wars gaming experience. Stay tuned for updates as the story unfolds.
