Excitement is mounting as Baldur’s Gate 3 is just hours away from its grand release, and gamers like me have already kissed their weekends goodbye, eagerly anticipating the epic adventure that awaits in Faerûn.
If you’ve been playing the early access version and plan to dive headlong into the full game, the development studio, Larian, has shared some crucial tips to make your journey seamless and enjoyable.
In their recent news post, “Baldur’s Gate 3: Preparing for Launch,” on the game’s Steam page, Larian presents a helpful six-step to-do list for every aspiring adventurer.
The most critical piece of advice, which they have previously stressed, is to clear your PC of any remnants of the early access version before installing and running the full game.
Step 1: Farewell to Your Saves
Start by deleting your saves from within Baldur’s Gate 3. However, be cautious when doing this; simply deleting the files in File Explorer might cause issues with the game’s cloud save system.
Instead, go to the main menu, click “Load Game,” and then delete your old campaigns to avoid any mishaps. Afterward, proceed to uninstall the game and remove any lingering mods from its previous directory.
Step 2: Embrace the SSD
Larian strongly recommends using an SSD (Solid State Drive) for storing the game’s hefty 122GB bulk. While the game’s required specs list an SSD as “required,” the studio doesn’t specify the consequences of opting for a traditional hard drive.
Brace yourself for potentially long load times if you don’t opt for the speed of an SSD, which could add to the already substantial HowLongToBeat times.
Step 3: Keep Your GPU Drivers Updated
Stay ahead of any potential technical hiccups by ensuring your GPU drivers are up to date. This small but crucial step can enhance your gaming experience and prevent compatibility issues.
Step 4: Consult the FAQ
If you encounter any difficulties during your journey, don’t fret. Larian has prepared a comprehensive FAQ, conveniently available in the game’s launcher at launch.
This resource will address common concerns and provide solutions to various problems, allowing you to focus on conquering the game’s challenges.
Step 5: Gather Your Party and Venture Forth
As you embark on your epic adventure, remember to assemble a formidable party of companions to aid you in your quest. Choose your allies wisely, for their skills and personalities will shape the course of your journey.
Step 6: Good Luck on Your Quest
With all preparations complete, it’s time to embark on your grand quest in Baldur’s Gate 3. May fortune favor you as you set out to conquer the challenges that lie ahead. Enjoy the adventure, and may you emerge victorious before Starfield’s imminent arrival in just 34 days!
Gear up for an unforgettable adventure in Baldur’s Gate 3, armed with these essential tips to ensure a seamless transition from early access to the full-fledged game.
