Former 007 Pierce Brosnan Backs Aaron Taylor-Johnson for Bond Role

As speculation swirls around Aaron Taylor-Johnson potentially being cast as the next James Bond, a former 007 himself has weighed in with his endorsement. Pierce Brosnan, who played the iconic British spy across four films from 1995 to 2002, expressed his belief that Taylor-Johnson possesses the necessary “chops and talent and charisma” to take on the mantle.

In an interview with RTÉ Radio 1’s The Ray D’Arcy Show, Brosnan shared his thoughts on the Bullet Train actor’s suitability for the role. “I think the man has the chops and the talent and the charisma to play Bond, very much so,” Brosnan stated, offering his seal of approval.

The former Bond’s endorsement carries extra weight, as Brosnan has firsthand experience working with Taylor-Johnson. The two actors co-starred in the 2009 film The Greatest, where they portrayed a father and son. Reflecting on their collaboration, Brosnan praised Taylor-Johnson’s performance, saying, “One of the first movies we made, one of the earliest movies, was The Greatest. And he was the greatest in it.”

While rumors have been swirling about Taylor-Johnson’s potential casting as the next James Bond, nothing has been officially confirmed by the producers or the actor himself. However, a recent report from The Sun claimed that Taylor-Johnson was on the verge of signing the contract to take over the iconic role as recently as last week.

Regardless of the speculation, Brosnan’s endorsement highlights the respect and admiration Taylor-Johnson commands within the industry. The former 007’s words carry significant weight, given his intimate knowledge of what it takes to embody the suave and sophisticated spy.

As the search for Daniel Craig’s successor continues, Taylor-Johnson’s name has emerged as a frontrunner among the many contenders vying for the coveted role. With Brosnan’s backing, the Bullet Train star’s chances of donning the famous tuxedo and ordering a martini – shaken, not stirred – may have just received a considerable boost.

While the future of the James Bond franchise remains shrouded in mystery, one thing is clear: Pierce Brosnan believes Aaron Taylor-Johnson has what it takes to step into the shoes of one of cinema’s most iconic characters, a sentiment that will undoubtedly resonate with fans eagerly awaiting the announcement of the next 007.
