Capcom has unveiled plans to address one of the most divisive aspects of its recently released action RPG, Dragon’s Dogma 2, in an upcoming patch. The game’s unique “Dragonsplague” mechanic, which has garnered both praise and criticism from players, will receive significant adjustments to alleviate some of the frustrations surrounding it.

The Dragonsplague, a supernatural affliction that can infect the game’s AI-controlled companions known as “Pawns,” has been a source of contention among the player base. While the mechanic adds an intriguing layer of risk and consequence to the gameplay experience, many have found it to be overly punishing and difficult to manage.

According to the patch notes shared by Capcom, the upcoming update will reduce the frequency of Dragonsplague infections, making it less likely for Pawns to contract the dreaded illness during encounters with dragons. Additionally, the update will make the visual indicators of infection more prominent, with infected Pawns displaying noticeably glowing eyes, allowing players to identify and address the issue more easily.

To all Dragon's Dogma 2 players

We have an update planned this month with the following adjustments and fixes. We will release them on each platform as soon as they are ready.

Capcom’s decision to adjust the Dragonsplague mechanic stems from player feedback and a desire to strike a better balance between challenge and accessibility. While the mechanic was intended to introduce an element of risk and unpredictability to the game, many players found it overwhelming and detrimental to their overall enjoyment.

Beyond the Dragonsplague adjustments, the update will also address other player concerns, such as improving Pawn behavior and dialogue, reducing the likelihood of Pawns falling off cliffs, and fixing an issue that prevented players from high-fiving their companions.

The move to refine the Dragonsplague mechanic and address player feedback demonstrates Capcom’s commitment to delivering a polished and enjoyable experience for Dragon’s Dogma 2 fans. By responding to community concerns and fine-tuning problematic aspects of the game, the developer aims to enhance the overall gameplay experience and ensure that the unique mechanics of Dragon’s Dogma 2 are both challenging and enjoyable.

As players eagerly await the release of the upcoming patch, the gaming community applauds Capcom’s willingness to listen to feedback and make adjustments to improve the overall quality of their latest RPG offering.
