Fans of classic 3D platformers and the beloved Sonic the Hedgehog series have a new adventure to look forward to on the Nintendo Switch. Spark the Electric Jester 3, the latest entry in the Spark series created by Felipe Daneluz (aka Lake Feperd), is making the leap from PC to Nintendo’s hybrid console.
Originally released on Steam in 2022 to overwhelmingly positive reviews, Spark the Electric Jester 3 continues the story directly after the events of the previous game. Players control the lightning-fast electric jester Spark on his mission to take down his rival once again. The game promises fast-paced, action-packed stages blending platforming and combat.
At its core, Spark 3 delivers a seamless sense of speed and freedom of movement that has drawn frequent comparisons to the classic Sonic Adventure games from the Dreamcast era. Players can explore levels in multiple ways, discover new abilities that alter the gameplay, and strive for quicker clear times through expert maneuvering.
The upcoming Switch port is being handled by FreakZone Games, though an exact release date has not been announced yet. It is simply listed as “coming soon” to Nintendo’s platform.
For Sonic fans seeking their next fix of finely tuned 3D platforming or anyone who appreciates high-velocity action games, Spark the Electric Jester 3 could be a spark of joy on the Switch. The first two games in the series kicked off in 2017 and 2019 respectively, but this third installment aims to be the full-fledged evolution of Feperd’s passion project.

While an independent creation, Spark draws clear inspiration from Sonic’s history on consoles like the Dreamcast. With its vibrant colors, breakneck speeds, and platforming prowess, this electrifying jester may just fill that void for Switch owners yearning for a modern take on the 3D Sonic games of yesteryear.
