The surprise indie hit Balatro is going all-in with a stacked physical edition release planned for later this year. Developer LocalThunk and publisher PlayStack have announced that special retail versions of the poker-inspired roguelike deck-builder are in the works for the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.
While digital versions have allowed Balatro to become a cult classic since its 2024 launch, the upcoming physical releases will give fans a new way to collect and experience the unique card game. Each physical edition will include an exclusive bonus – a special booster pack containing 10 unique, new Joker cards not found in the base game.
In Balatro, players combine traditional poker hands with powerful special “Joker” cards that provide unique gameplay abilities and bonuses. Building smart synergies between these two card types is key to surviving runs against escalating blind opponents and securing lucrative rewards.
