The reimagined version of The Fresh Prince, called Bel-Air, is back this summer with a third season on Peacock! The show follows Will Smith’s story as he goes from the streets of West Philly to the fancy neighborhoods of Bel-Air. Jabari Banks does a great job portraying Will as he adjusts to his new life.
Season 3 seems like it’s really ramping up the drama. With hot LA summer weather, Will and Carlton, played by Olly Sholotan, find themselves in an unexpected partnership that could hit some bumps. Meanwhile, tensions are rising at home for Viv and Phil, played by Cassandra Freeman and Adrian Holmes.
Even cooler – one of the original actors is returning! Joseph Marcell, who played the Banks’ butler Geoffrey, will be showing up. Showrunner Carla Banks-Waddles says he’ll play a mystery person from the family’s past. It must have taken a lot of work to get him since he’s busy in London.
We’re also meeting Will’s dad Lou, played by funnyman Marlon Wayans. It seems like their relationship has some issues in the past. How will this affect Will as he tries to change his ways?
With new drama brewing between the characters and returning stars from the original, Season 3 is shaping up to be the most intense one yet. There’ll be beach parties, fires on the property, and Juneteenth celebrations too. I can’t wait to see the new conflicts for Will and how Carlton deals with his addiction recovery when it premieres on August 15th!
