Late night host Conan O’Brien is hoping creator Mike White will give him a role in the third season of hit HBO series “The White Lotus.” O’Brien revealed he approached White over a year ago about being in the new season, which is filming in Thailand. While speaking on his podcast, O’Brien shared he ran into White during a trip to Bangkok in 2021.
Knowing the show was shooting its next installment in Southeast Asia, O’Brien saw an opportunity. “I said ‘If there’s a part for me, I’m available,'” O’Brien recalled telling White. However, the role White proposed was unconventional – that of a male escort. According to O’Brien, White mentioned “there’s a lot of sex work there” in Thailand. As a joke, O’Brien responded he could take on such a part.
Actor Walter Goggins, set to star in season 3, was O’Brien’s guest on the podcast. Goggins, known for complex roles, approved of the idea. “Yes, you could do that. I believe you could play that part,” Goggins said. He added O’Brien seemed capable of both portraying the role and truly working as an escort.
While apparently kidding around, O’Brien’s enthusiasm for joining the acclaimed drama is evident. Details for season 3 are still emerging, but the cast continues to grow with names like Carrie Coon, Michelle Monaghan and Lisa of K-pop group Blackpink. Whether White ultimately gives O’Brien a cameo stays to be seen when the new season debuts in 2025.
