Chloe Fineman, who plays Rachel on Saturday Night Live, talked about a tense exchange with Elon Musk when he was the host in 2021. She confirmed that she was the cast member who was moved to tears during the show’s preparation week.
Fineman talked about a personal time when Musk gave her feedback on a sketch she had worked on all night in an honest TikTok video that came out on Monday. “You stared at me like you were firing me from Tesla and were like, ‘It’s not funny,'” she said. Musk is said to have read her writing and said, “I didn’t laugh, not once.”
The shocking news comes after hints from cast member Bowen Yang, who said that an unknown host made several cast members cry before the show’s table read. The video of Fineman proved that she was the artist who caused the problem.
Musk recently said on social media that SNL has been “dying slowly for years” and is becoming “increasingly out of touch with reality.” This led to a new fight. These comments were caused by what Dana Carvey said about Musk on the show not long ago.
In response to the claims, Musk wrote on X (formerly Twitter) that he was initially worried about how funny the show might be. “Frankly, it was only on the Thursday before the Saturday that ANY of the sketches generated laughs,” he said.
The sketch called “The Oooli Show” made it to air despite some stress at the start. In the scene, Musk played a producer with glasses called Ragnarok, who was paired with Fineman’s character, an Icelandic social media star. After the fact, Fineman said that Musk was “really funny in it” and that the result was “fine.”
“Have a little manners here, sir!” she said at the end of her TikTok video, which was online for a few hours before being removed.
The event shows how live comedy is put together behind the scenes and the problems that can happen when famous people appear on sketch comedy shows.
Chloe Fineman deleted the video after it was up for a few hours. Luckily I saved it…in it she says Elon Musk did not like her sketch: “You made I, Chloe Fineman burst into tears because I stayed up late writing a sketch. I was so excited, I came in, I asked if you had any… https://t.co/y4BxNSab8j pic.twitter.com/p2RVHQMYuC
