Tom Cruise’s famous spy series will come to a dramatic end with “Mission: Impossible—The Final Reckoning,” which will be released in theaters on May 23, 2025. The eighth movie in the long-running action series looks like it will be an explosive conclusion.
The first trailer and image for the movie were shared by Cruise on social media, hinting at a dangerous AI program called “The Entity” that needs to be stopped. The actor showed how emotional the movie was by writing in the caption, “Every choice has led to this.”
Following on from 2023’s “Dead Reckoning,” the new movie will continue with Ethan Hunt racing against time to keep The Entity from getting into the wrong hands. Cruise will be joined by newbie Hannah Waddingham and returning cast members Simon Pegg and Ving Rhames.
Christopher McQuarrie, who has directed the last three movies in the series, will also direct this last one. In the movie, Esai Morales will play Gabriel again, the bad guy, making Hunt’s last task more personal.
There were many problems with production, like delays caused by the COVID-19 pandemic and the recent SAG-AFTRA actors’ strike. It was not easy, but the film was finished filming, and now Cruise is set to say goodbye to the figure who has defined much of his action movie career.
Fans can expect Cruise’s usual dangerous stunts and intense action scenes in what looks like it will be the epic end of the Mission: Impossible series.
