More and more famous people in Hollywood are speaking out in support of actor Blake Lively after she accused her co-star and director on “It Ends With Us” of sexual harassment. The lawsuit, sent to the California Civil Rights Department, says that Baldoni harassed Lively. At the same time, the movie was being made and then started a campaign of lies about her while the movie was being promoted.
Lively worked with director Paul Feig on “A Simple Favor,” who defended her professionalism. “One of the most professional, creative, collaborative, talented, and kind people” he had ever worked with, he said. It was said that Lively was the target of a smear campaign on social media, and Feig spoke out against it.
It’s getting more attention because of the movie’s ideas. “It Ends With Us,” which is based on Colleen Hoover’s best-selling book of the same name, looks at how complicated an abusive relationship can be. Hoover, who produced the movie, put a heartfelt picture of himself and Lively on Instagram to show his support. She said Lively has been “honest, kind, supportive, and patient” since they met.
In a strong show of support, Lively’s “Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants” co-stars America Ferrera, Amber Tamblyn, and Alexis Bledel all put out a statement in her favor. They condemned a “premeditated and vindictive effort” to hurt Lively. One of the main points of their statement was the “unabashed exploitation of domestic violence survivors’ stories to silence a woman who asked for safety.”
Robyn Lively, Lively’s sister and star in It Ends With Us, defended her on Instagram. She called Blake a “mama bear” and discussed the marketing campaign’s problems. “Mistakes were made, but she isn’t the creative behind these decisions and shouldn’t shoulder the sole responsibility,” she said.
Due to the allegations, there have already been repercussions on the job. Baldoni has been removed from the well-known talent agency WME. Baldoni has denied the allegations through his lawyer, Bryan Freedman, calling them “false, outrageous, and meant to be scandalous.”
“It Ends With Us,” which came out in U.S. theaters on August 9, has done well at the box office, even though its marketing approach has been criticized. Co-produced by Columbia Pictures and Baldoni’s Wayfarer Studios, the movie stars Lively as Ryle Kincaid and is directed by Baldoni.
On her Instagram story, comedian Amy Schumer also supported Lively by writing, “I believe Blake.”
Because of this case, people are talking more about workplace safety in the entertainment business. Some of Lively’s former co-stars said that even someone as successful as her could face serious consequences for fighting for a safe workplace.
