Chelsea Handler is set to return to Netflix with a new comedy special, The Feeling, premiering on March 25. Recorded at the Wellmont Theater in New Jersey, the show sees Handler tackling topics ranging from her own beginnings to a series of unpredictable events driven by what she calls “the feeling.”
Handler, who co-wrote the special with director Shannon Hartman, uses the stage to offer a candid look at her life. In the performance, she shares humorous takes on her birth, early business ventures, and an array of personal anecdotes.
One clip from the special highlights her frustration with the sport of pickleball. “I blame COVID for pickleball,” Handler remarks. “When people bang on and on about pickleball, that is not real exercise, OK? So shut the f–k up about it. You would burn more calories shoving an actual pickle up your asshole on a pickleball court than playing a game of pickleball.”
Her remarks on pickleball come alongside stories involving notable figures such as Andrew Cuomo, George W. Bush, and Bill Cosby. Handler’s offbeat style and willingness to discuss subjects many would avoid have long been a draw for her audience.
The Feeling marks the latest installment in Handler’s relationship with Netflix. It follows previous projects like Evolution (2020) and Revolution (2022), as well as her earlier standup effort, Uganda Be Kidding Me (2014). Beyond her standup specials, Handler’s collaborations with Netflix have included projects in both comedy and documentary formats, highlighting her diverse approach to storytelling.
In addition to her upcoming special, Handler’s new book, I’ll Have What She’s Having, was released on February 25. The comedian is scheduled to support the book with a tour that will take her to cities including New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, and Seattle.
