Gabriel Macht reprises his role as Harvey Specter in Suits LA, appearing in flashback scenes that explore his early friendship with Ted Black, played by Stephen Amell. Macht’s return to the Suits universe brings back the high-powered attorney in a different light, offering a glimpse into his past and his dynamic with Ted.
In one flashback, Harvey and Ted play on a prosecutors’ league baseball team, where they debate which of them is more like Batman. During the exchange, Ted struggles with stress from his brother Eddie’s entanglement with Pellegrini, a known criminal. Later, at a bar, Harvey shares unsettling information about Pellegrini having an informant in Ted’s office, though he reassures his friend that there’s no immediate threat. The moment also settles their debate—Harvey declares himself Batman, leaving Ted as Robin.
Macht will appear in two additional episodes this season, set in the present day. His former Suits co-star Rick Hoffman is also scheduled for an appearance, though they will not share scenes.
Reflecting on his return, Macht described the experience as deeply personal. “There was a sense of warmth on the set,” he said. Growing up in Los Angeles, he found it meaningful to film in familiar locations, including a baseball field where he practiced in high school and Factor’s Deli near his childhood home. He also reunited with a camera operator who had once attended high school with his cousin.
His father, Stephen Macht, who played Professor Henry Gerard in the original Suits, visited the set, evoking memories of Macht’s youth. Seeing his father watching from the stands reminded him of being 15 years old and looking up to him in the same way.
While Macht didn’t share extensive details about Harvey’s role in Suits LA, he noted that Harvey and Ted share a history from their time in the District Attorney’s office. He described their relationship as one built on mutual respect and competition. Macht praised Amell’s performance, calling him open and easy to work with.
Outside of acting, Macht has taken on a new role as creative director for Bear Fight Whiskey. He recently starred in the brand’s first ad campaign, which featured him in a fight scene with a man in a bear costume. He described the campaign’s theme as a reflection of personal challenges, a concept he believes many can relate to.
