Warner Bros.’ DC Studios entry “Superman” will be available to buy digitally in North America on Friday, August 15, with 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray, and DVD arriving September 23. The home editions follow a mid-July theatrical launch and keep the film in release as the studio readies connected DCU projects.
Director James Gunn has said the accelerated digital date is meant to ensure fans can watch the film before “Peacemaker” season 2 debuts next week, linking the movie’s rollout to the DCU’s TV timeline.
The physical discs include a one-hour making-of feature and a slate of short docs; a Krypto-themed short (“Krypto Saves the Day!: School Bus Scuffle”) headlines the extras alongside pieces on the score, Lex Luthor, the Daily Planet, and a DCU overview. A director’s commentary, deleted scenes, and gag reel are set to be added to digital purchases after launch. Technical specs list Dolby Atmos on the 4K and Blu-ray releases.
At the box office, “Superman” has earned about $583 million worldwide, including roughly $334 million domestic, placing it among 2025’s top performers and setting a modern high for the character in North America.
The film’s around-35-day path from theaters to digital is earlier than the 45-day window exhibitors have been lobbying to standardize this year, a reminder that studios continue to flex title-by-title windowing strategies.
Retail listings for September 23 include standard editions and steelbook packaging, with broad U.S. availability. “Superman” stars David Corenswet, Rachel Brosnahan, and Nicholas Hoult and serves as the onscreen launch point for DC Studios’ interconnected slate, which the cast and filmmakers discuss in a newly released bonus-feature preview.
