Catherine Herridge has partnered with the Los Angeles Times Media Group on “Straight to the Point,” a weekly independent investigative program that will publish across LATMG’s digital platforms and on Herridge’s official X channel. The series, announced ahead of a November 9 debut, is billed as an interview-driven and document-based project focused on high-impact national and global stories. LATMG framed the collaboration as part of a strategy to give independent journalists resources and reach while maintaining their editorial control.
TheWrap reported that each episode will feature extended conversations with figures from government, business, technology, culture and national security, with companion articles and highlight clips distributed across the company’s channels. Herridge said the arrangement is designed to support fact-driven reporting without interference, an approach she has emphasized in public posts announcing the launch.
The series arrives after a turbulent period in Herridge’s career. She departed CBS News in 2024 amid layoffs and later reached a resolution over confidential reporting materials that had become the subject of a dispute, events that sharpened her public advocacy for reporter independence and source protection. Her background as a national security correspondent at Fox News and CBS, along with previous enterprise work that drew official responses, underpins the project’s emphasis on primary records and on-the-record interviews.
LATMG owner Dr. Patrick Soon-Shiong praised Herridge’s commitment to fact-based journalism in announcing the venture, positioning “Straight to the Point” as a weekly fixture with a consistent release cadence. Corporate communications describe a multi-platform rollout designed to meet audiences where they already consume news, with an explicit promise that editorial decisions remain with the journalist. Trade coverage has also noted that some outlets are labeling the initiative a podcast as well as a video series, reflecting the cross-format distribution.
