Taraji P. Henson will star in and executive produce a television adaptation of Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson’s 2024 novel The Accomplice, which is in development at Peacock with Universal Studio Group. No writer or showrunner is attached. Jackson will executive produce through G-Unit Films and Television, with Henson producing via TPH Entertainment. The project was teased by Jackson in an October interview, and early loglines center on Nia Adams, a Texas Ranger tracking master thief Desmond Bell who uncovers a wider conspiracy that tests her loyalties.
The book, co-authored by mystery writer Aaron Philip Clark, introduces Nia as a New York-born, Texas-bred law officer whose pursuit of Bell pulls her into the secrets of powerful figures. Retail listings describe Bell as a thief who deals in leverage as much as loot, a setup that aligns with the series description and suggests a cat-and-mouse structure with institutional stakes. Naming Henson in the role of Nia signals an action-forward lead built around a conflicted investigator rather than a criminal antihero.
Henson’s involvement extends her recent run across streaming. In October, she signed a two-picture acting deal at Netflix following the June premiere of Tyler Perry’s Straw, her first Netflix lead. She told People earlier this year that Straw overlapped with her work on Peacock’s true-crime miniseries Fight Night: The Million Dollar Heist, underscoring her ongoing relationship with the NBCUniversal platform. If ordered to series, The Accomplice would mark her second recent headline role at Peacock.
Jackson continues to expand his slate alongside the long-running Power franchise, with multiple scripted and unscripted projects at various outlets. Positioning The Accomplice at Peacock keeps the title within a Universal ecosystem that has previously partnered with both Jackson and Henson on high-profile series. Development specifics beyond the core creative attachments have not been disclosed, including episode count, production timeline or additional cast.
