Netflix’s U.S. lineup added the first two seasons of Fox workplace comedy “Animal Control” on Dec. 26, giving the Joel McHale-led series a major new storefront days before its Season 4 rollout on broadcast. The drop follows a new U.S. streaming-rights deal for the show, positioning Netflix as the key catch-up destination heading into the next run of episodes.
Fox set a two-step launch for Season 4. The network scheduled a special advance premiere Sunday, Dec. 28, airing 8:00–8:30 p.m. ET “live to all time zones” immediately after its NFL doubleheader, then will move the comedy into its regular Thursday slot starting Jan. 15 at 9:00 p.m. ET/PT. Fox framed the early sample as part of its Winter 2026 programming push tied to high-viewership sports lead-ins.
The Dec. 28 episode, titled “Bear Cubs and Broncos,” kicks off with budget cuts that force two Animal Control precincts to merge. Frank Shaw (McHale) and Templeton (Gerry Dee) jockey for authority during a bear rescue, while Emily (Vella Lovell) and Shred (Michael Rowland) work to keep their relationship under wraps.
For Netflix, the timing aims at viewers who missed the series on first run. The service’s show page lists “Animal Control” as a Seattle-set comedy about an officer and colleagues handling unpredictable animals and “less-than-helpful humans,” with McHale, Lovell and Rowland leading the cast. Netflix and Fox have not outlined in public materials whether Season 3 will join the Netflix package on the same timetable, leaving the initial offering centered on the first two seasons.
