Actor John Cho has joined the cast of The Off Weeks, the eight-episode Apple TV+ limited series headlined by Ben Stiller and Jessica Chastain, according to Deadline. Cho will appear in a recurring role; details about his character have not been disclosed.
The project, announced by Apple in September 2025, centers on divorced writing professor Gus Adler, who splits life into “on weeks” with custody of his children and “off weeks” that pull him into a high-stakes romance with Stella West, described as a mysterious arrival who collides with Gus’ attempts to keep his family life intact. Apple said Michael Showalter will direct and executive produce, with Alissa Nutting serving as showrunner and executive producer.
Casting news has rolled out in clusters since the greenlight. Late last month, Richard Gere boarded the series to play a character named Jonathan, joining previously announced cast members. In January, Annaleigh Ashford signed on as series regular Jade, described as Gus’ next-door neighbor, and Arian Moayed also joined the ensemble.
Apple has framed “The Off Weeks” as a prestige limited series produced through Apple Studios with independent studio wiip, with Stiller executive producing via Red Hour and Chastain via Freckle Films. The show adds to a steady Apple TV+ strategy of packaging marquee film talent inside short-run dramas designed to travel internationally, while leaving timing flexible; no premiere date has been announced.
