NBC has renewed St. Denis Medical and Happy’s Place for third seasons, securing both comedies for the 2026–27 schedule and giving the network its first scripted renewals for that cycle. New episodes of “St. Denis Medical” air Mondays at 8 p.m. ET, with “Happy’s Place” airing Fridays at 8 p.m. ET, and both stream next day on Peacock.
Lisa Katz, the company’s president of scripted content, said the shows have “delivered comedic brilliance” and “remain hugely important and successful programs” for NBC’s primetime and Peacock lineup. She thanked the producers, casts and crews for bringing the series to life and said the teams will keep telling “laugh-out-loud stories.”
NBC pointed to recent audience gains as a key factor in renewing both comedies well ahead of its usual spring decisions. The network said “St. Denis Medical” has posted season-to-season linear growth among adults 18–49, and that the Jan. 5 episode delivered the series’ best result in that demographic since the November 2024 premiere. “Happy’s Place,” led by Reba McEntire, logged its strongest episode to date on Jan. 23 in both the adult 18–49 rating and total viewers, and NBC said the show’s first-quarter audience rose in total viewers.
“St. Denis Medical,” a mockumentary set inside an underfunded Oregon hospital, stars Wendi McLendon-Covey, David Alan Grier, Allison Tolman, Josh Lawson, Kahyun Kim, Mekki Leeper and Kaliko Kauahi. This season, administrator Joyce grapples with the ripple effects of a major private donation while staff shortages and workplace friction test morale.
Both series are produced by Universal Television, and the renewals put added attention on the rest of NBC’s comedy pipeline. Two newer half-hours, Stumble and The Fall and Rise of Reggie Dinkins, still await decisions as the network sets its next-season lineup.
