“Off Campus” creator Louisa Levy publicly disputed reports of a gender pay gap among the Prime Video series’ cast, calling widely circulated salary figures inaccurate and defending her record on equitable pay as the show’s female showrunner. Levy posted her response Friday in the comments of an Instagram video from the entertainment podcast “In the Vault,” which had broken down alleged per-episode earnings for the show’s stars.
The podcast’s hosts claimed that lead actor Belmont Cameli earned $260,000 for the first season, with co-star Josh Heuston reportedly paid $200,000 and supporting cast members Stephen Kalyn and Antonio Cipriano each receiving $120,000. Separate reporting circulating online suggested lead actress Ella Bright and co-star Mika Abdalla were paid $20,000 per episode, a total that would fall well below the season one lead actor’s reported per-episode rate of $30,000.
Levy pushed back directly against the numbers. She wrote that the figures were inaccurate and urged followers to check their sources, adding that pay equity remains a cause she actively champions as a woman running the production. The comment drew a wave of supportive replies from fans thanking her for confronting what they characterized as clickbait reporting.
Based on Elle Kennedy’s bestselling book series, “Off Campus” follows a college hockey team and the women in their orbit as they navigate relationships and identity during early adulthood. The show’s first season, which premiered on Prime Video in May, centered on the romance between Bright’s character, Hannah Wells, and Cameli’s Garrett Graham. Levy has said adapting the novels required condensing years of plot into eight episodes while preserving the moments most essential to fans of the source material.
Season two, now filming in Vancouver through mid-September, shifts its focus to Abdalla’s character, Allie Hayes, and Kalyn’s Dean Di Laurentis, tracking the storyline of Kennedy’s novel “The Score.” Levy confirmed that Bright and Cameli will remain part of the ensemble even as new leads take center stage. A premiere date for the new season has not been announced, though the series is expected to return in spring 2027.
