Netflix has set “Bridgerton” Season 4 to premiere in two parts on Jan. 29, 2026, and Feb. 26, 2026, with eight episodes that shift the spotlight to Benedict Bridgerton and a masked woman he meets at his mother’s masquerade ball.
The new season pairs Luke Thompson’s Benedict with Yerin Ha’s Sophie Baek, introduced as the “Lady in Silver” before her identity comes into focus. Netflix describes the story as a twist on a Cinderella framework, with Sophie working as a maid while trying to protect her secrets and pursue a life with more agency. Thompson said the season plays on “the magic and the romance” of old fairy tales while pushing into “the actual reality of the world,” and Ha said Sophie enters the story carrying obstacles tied to social status and guarded feelings.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, showrunner Jess Brownell framed that tension as the season’s engine: audiences know the setup of “a maid who falls for someone above her station,” she said, yet she wanted Sophie to avoid the familiar damsel template. “In the case of Sophie Baek, she is no such thing,” Brownell said. She added that Julia Quinn’s third novel, “An Offer From a Gentleman,” offered “rich set pieces” that translate cleanly to television and drive “juicy conflict and high stakes.”
Season 4 also continues the show’s long-running interest in identity and social performance. Netflix has tied Sophie’s arc to masks, both literal and emotional, and Ha has pointed to the character’s need to keep reinventing herself to survive.
Netflix has not detailed every returning subplot, yet its release materials signal a wide ensemble again, with familiar Bridgertons and the Lady Whistledown narration still guiding the season’s public dramas.
