Fox has ordered Marriage Market, a family-driven arranged marriage reality series hosted by comedian Whitney Cummings, set to air during the network’s 2026-27 broadcast season — the first new unscripted show confirmed for the network’s upcoming lineup.
The series hands singles complete control of their romantic futures to their closest family members, who select a match for them at a physical marketplace setting unlike anything previously seen on American television. The format moves fast. When two families decide their picks are a good match, the couple gets engaged on the spot, then both families move in together to see if the arrangement holds. Fox describes the show as featuring around 100 singles and their families across the run of the series.
The concept originated inside Fox Entertainment Studios before launching in Germany on ProSieben in 2023, and now returns to its American birthplace for its U.S. premiere. Fox Entertainment Global will distribute the format worldwide. Showrunner Alycia Rossiter, a veteran of The Bachelor and The Bachelorette, executive produces alongside John Carr.
Fox Television Network president Michael Thorn positioned the show squarely at the emotional end of the reality spectrum. “Watching families come together to make these matches is deeply relatable and wildly emotional, giving this distinctive concept all the ingredients of a signature Fox unscripted series,” he said. Allison Wallach, head of unscripted at Fox Entertainment Studios, called it a reimagining of a timeless idea with families placed firmly in control.
Marriage Market enters a competitive space that includes Peacock’s Married at First Sight and TLC’s sprawling 90 Day Fiancé franchise — both of which have built loyal audiences around the specific drama of accelerated romantic commitment. Fox is betting its family-controlled twist gives the format a distinct enough identity to carve out its own audience.
Cummings brings a sharp comic sensibility to a genre that traditionally leans sentimental. She co-created 2 Broke Girls for CBS, created and starred in NBC’s Whitney, has released six stand-up specials, and most recently hosted Friends: The Game Show. She is currently on her North American Big Baby tour. Her recent personal life adds an extra dimension: she got engaged in November.
