Respawn Entertainment has shared an extensive overview of the various accessibility features incorporated in their upcoming game, Star Wars Jedi: Survivor.

The developers have put a great deal of thought into designing an inclusive gaming experience that caters to a wide range of players’ needs.

Building on Valuable Feedback

The development team at Respawn Entertainment used valuable feedback from their previous title, Jedi: Fallen Order, to refine and enhance the gaming experience in Jedi: Survivor.

This feedback led to the implementation of specific accessibility features such as multiple difficulty levels and customizable control options.

Star Wars Jedi Survivor

Customizable Controls and Subtitle Options

Jedi: Survivor allows players to remap controls to accommodate individual preferences. In addition, there are numerous toggles for subtitles and closed captions, enabling players to choose when they want them displayed during gameplay.

This customization can be applied to cutscenes, conversations, or battles. Directional indicators are also available as an optional feature.

Visual Settings and Accessibility Options

Upon release, Star Wars Jedi: Survivor will offer a variety of visual settings and accessibility options, including HUD scaling, color profile settings, a stabilizing UI dot, colorblind accommodations, field-of-view adjustments, and camera shake controls, among others.

Difficulty Levels to Suit Every Player

The game includes several difficulty options to cater to players with different skill levels and preferences. Story Mode, for instance, is ideal for those who wish to enjoy the adventure without much resistance from enemies. Parry times are longer, and enemy damage is minimal in this mode.

Jedi Padawan mode is slightly more challenging than Story Mode but remains more accessible than Jedi Knight. Here, parry times remain fairly generous, but enemies deal more damage.

Jedi Knight mode offers an even greater challenge, but it pales in comparison to Jedi Master, where enemies are highly aggressive. The most difficult mode, Jedi Grand Master, features narrow parry windows and merciless enemies, providing a true test for seasoned players.

In-Game Modifiers for a Tailored Experience

Throughout the game, players can adjust various gameplay modifiers, including auto-targeting camera options, button mash settings, Hold/Pull Toggles, Navigation Assist (with audio ping), and a Slow Mode toggle.

The Slow Mode allows players to reduce the pace of the action, making combat, platforming, and timed events more manageable and accessible to a broader audience.

Ongoing Accessibility Improvements

The accessibility features mentioned above are just the beginning for Star Wars Jedi: Survivor. The developers plan to continue enhancing the game’s accessibility post-launch, with additions such as a high contrast mode and menu narration.

These updates aim to further reduce and eliminate unnecessary barriers through thoughtful design choices.

Launching on April 28, Star Wars Jedi: Survivor will be available for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S, offering players an inclusive and engaging gaming experience.
