Following its somewhat turbulent launch last month, Star Wars Jedi: Survivor found itself grappling with a host of technical issues that marred the gameplay experience. However, in the wake of a series of patches aimed at addressing these concerns, our correspondent James decided to revisit this sequel.
His verdict, albeit somewhat improved, was far from glowing. He noted that while there were improvements, the PC performance of Jedi: Survivor could at best be described as ‘less bad.’ That being said, Respawn, the game’s developer, remains undeterred, launching a fifth patch designed to bolster performance and stability.
Rollout of the Latest Patch
According to EA, the most recent patch was released on PC yesterday. Console gamers can expect a similar update at some point in the future. The latest patch comes packed with several fixes aimed primarily at PC users:
- (PC exclusive) Enhancements to content caching aimed at reducing hitching.
- (PC exclusive) Augmented thread management when raytracing is deactivated.
- (PC exclusive) Rectification of a glitch where decreasing the PC visual settings erroneously lowered the resolution scale when FSR was off.
- Note: For those who previously deactivated FSR and played at a lower visual quality, it may be advisable to revisit your quality settings.
- (PC exclusive) Solution for a non-responsive reset button on PC when using both a controller and a keyboard.
- Assorted performance fixes.
- Augmented stability.
Additional Fixes and Future Patches
Aside from the aforementioned performance and stability fixes, the new patch also eliminates a range of bugs, one of which had been obstructing game progression. Other improvements include corrections to issues related to music and audio syncing.
This might not matter as much to diehard Star Wars fans who could likely hum the iconic themes perfectly even with their eyes closed, but it certainly makes for a smoother gaming experience. The familiar Star Wars soundtracks have indeed become an inseparable part of many a gamer’s memory.
For a more comprehensive understanding of the updates in this patch, you can access the full list of fixes on the company’s website. And for those still experiencing stuttering issues, fear not – EA has confirmed that further patches are in the pipeline.
This reflects the developer’s commitment to continually refining and improving Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, striving for the best possible gaming experience for its players.
