id Software is set to revolutionize its legendary Doom franchise with the upcoming “Doom: The Dark Ages,” a prequel that promises to blend cutting-edge technology with a return to the series’ roots. Set for release in 2025 on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X, this latest installment aims to redefine the Doom experience while paying homage to its classic origins.
Creative Director Hugo Martin revealed that the game’s conception stemmed from a crucial realization about the original Doom’s gameplay. “Every projectile mattered in the original Doom,” Martin stated, highlighting the importance of horizontal movement and weaving between projectiles.
