The proverbial cat seems to have slipped out of the bag for Epic Games. Following the recent leak about Season 3 of Fortnite Chapter 4, which is set to introduce an Optimus Prime skin, an internal email has surfaced online that sheds light on the software house’s current projects.
The leaked email, circulated among the employees who are behind the creation of the Unreal Engine 5, explicitly mentions several ongoing projects. Some of these ventures reach beyond the scope of Fortnite, hinting at the company’s broader ambitions.
Five Diverse Projects in the Pipeline
According to the email’s contents, Epic Games has its sights set on five unique projects. Fortnite Chapter 5, the upcoming major update to the immensely popular free battle royale, is unsurprisingly the first among these. Its release timeline remains uncertain, although it’s highly unlikely to be launched before the end of 2024.
The list also includes updates for the UEFN (Unreal Engine Fortnite) — also known as Creative Mode 2.0 — and a mysterious LEGO-themed gaming experience slated for inclusion in Fortnite. As of now, details regarding the LEGO project remain tantalizingly vague.
Ventures Beyond Fortnite
Epic Games’ ambitions don’t stop at Fortnite. The leaked email hints at two projects detached from the world of Fortnite: “Harmonix Festival” and “Rocket League Racing”.
While we can only speculate about their nature, it’s plausible to suggest these are new ventures from Harmonix and Psyonix, both game development teams that Epic Games has acquired.
