Larian Studios, leveraging the buzz generated by their eight nominations at The Game Awards, including the coveted Game of the Year, shared their enthusiasm and hinted at the ambitious nature of their upcoming game.
Swen Vincke, the founder and CEO of Larian, expressed his pride and motivation in a recent retweet, emphasizing how their “little ‘niche RPG'” has made significant waves in the gaming industry.
He alluded to the studio’s next venture, promising boundary-pushing developments while keeping details under wraps. Baldur’s Gate 3’s journey began with an Early Access release in October 2020. Over the years, Larian Studios diligently worked on the game, integrating player feedback to refine and expand the content.
The full version was finally released for PC in August 2023, followed by a PlayStation 5 port a month later, after resolving some technical issues. An Xbox Series X|S port is on the horizon, with Larian teasing an update in the near future.
The game’s reception has been phenomenal, garnering seven Golden Joystick awards, including Ultimate Game Of The Year, PC Game Of The Year, and Studio Of The Year.

Neil Newbon’s portrayal of Astarion earned a nomination for Best Performance, showcasing the game’s impactful storytelling and character development.
