Hidetaka Miyazaki has hinted that the highly anticipated Elden Ring DLC map may match or exceed the scale of Limgrave, one of the largest areas in the base game.
In an interview with IGN discussing the upcoming expansion Shadow of the Erdtree, Miyazaki gave a rough estimate of the new landmass players can explore.
“If you think in terms of scale or size, it’s probably comparable, if not larger, than the area of Limgrave from the base game,” he revealed.
Limgrave spans sweeping open fields, dense forests, and contains the entirety of Stormveil Castle. For the DLC map to equal or surpass it represents a massive addition.
While Miyazaki stopped short of confirming specifics, it signals the team’s ambitious scope for this new realm. More precise details will likely wait until players experience the scale first-hand.
Beyond size, Miyazaki outlined a familiar structure of open environments, legacy dungeons, and intricately designed sub-areas. This aligns with Elden Ring’s core DNA, now translated into fresh settings waiting to be uncovered.

The DLC will transport players to a completely new land separate from the Lands Between. Miyazaki hinted this will involve “a warp of sorts”, potentially tied to the demigod Miquella, a central character in the new story expansion.
