PlayStation Plus subscribers, brace yourselves for a significant shakeup in the Extra tier’s game library this month. Sony has confirmed that a staggering 34 titles will be departing the service on May 21st, signaling a massive content overhaul for the popular subscription offering.

The initial list of games scheduled for removal from PS Plus Extra in May included notable entries such as various Final Fantasy titles, Horizon Zero Dawn, and indie gems like Abzu and The Messenger. However, recent discoveries by the PlayStation community have unveiled an even more extensive list of departures.

According to findings by Reddit user MichaelWildeboer, several other titles have been added to the chopping block, including the Darksiders series, Elex 2, MX vs. ATV Legends, and Wreckfest. This brings the total number of games leaving PS Plus Extra on May 21st to a substantial 34, an unprecedented move that will undoubtedly leave a significant gap in the service’s library.

While the influx of new games to fill this void remains unconfirmed, Sony is expected to announce the full lineup of May’s PS Plus Extra and Premium additions by mid-month. Rumors have circulated about the possibility of a PlayStation Showcase event this month, where the company may choose to unveil the incoming titles alongside other exciting announcements.

The mass exodus of games from PS Plus Extra has left subscribers both concerned and intrigued. On one hand, the departure of beloved titles like Horizon Zero Dawn and various Final Fantasy installments is a bitter pill to swallow for fans who have come to rely on the service’s robust library. However, the sweeping changes also present an opportunity for Sony to introduce a fresh wave of compelling games, potentially breathing new life into the Extra tier.

As subscribers eagerly await the unveiling of May’s new additions, the focus remains on savoring the departing games before they bid farewell on the 21st. With such a vast collection of titles on the chopping block, it may be an impossible task to experience them all before their removal, but dedicated fans will undoubtedly make the most of the remaining time.

Sony’s decision to overhaul the PS Plus Extra library on such a grand scale is a bold move that underscores the company’s commitment to keeping the service fresh and relevant. While the temporary loss of beloved games may sting, the promise of an influx of new titles could reignite excitement and breathe new life into the subscription service.

As the gaming community eagerly awaits Sony’s reveal of the May lineup, one thing is certain: the upcoming changes will reshape the PlayStation Plus Extra experience, marking a significant milestone in the service’s evolution.
