Bend Studio’s community manager, Kevin McAllister, has definitively quashed rumors and speculation about a potential sequel to Days Gone, urging fans to “move on” from hopes of a Days Gone 2.
Days Gone, released in 2019, was Sony’s attempt at another tentpole single-player title. Despite claims from the game’s director that it sold as well as Ghost of Tsushima, the game received mixed critical reception and was reportedly viewed as a disappointment by management.
In response to persistent inquiries and speculation about a sequel, McAllister took to social media to clarify the studio’s stance. “I apologize to our Days Gone community for continuously getting fed false hope and poor information by people looking for likes,” he stated. “It’s not fair to you all. We are currently working on a new IP, and when we have actual news to share it will come from our studio.”

McAllister’s comments appear to be in response to recent statements from Days Gone’s writer, John Garvin, who shared that the original intention was for the game to spawn a trilogy. The community manager expressed frustration with headlines originating from former developers, noting that “people need likes” and that it’s “time to move on.”
While Bend Studio has confirmed they are working on a new IP, details about this project remain under wraps. No indication has been given as to when this new title might be revealed.
The clarification from Bend Studio comes at a time when the gaming industry has been hit by numerous layoffs and studio shutdowns. Despite these challenges, Bend Studio continues to operate and develop new content.
This announcement serves as a definitive statement to fans still holding out hope for a Days Gone sequel. While the original game maintains a dedicated fanbase, it’s clear that Bend Studio has moved on to new projects and is asking its community to do the same.
