Sony-owned studio Bluepoint Games, renowned for its critically acclaimed remakes and remasters of beloved titles like Demon’s Souls and Shadow of the Colossus, has reaffirmed its commitment to developing an original game for the PlayStation platform. In a recent exchange on social media, Peter Dalton, Head of Technology at Bluepoint Games, provided a brief update on the studio’s highly anticipated original project.

When asked if the studio was still working on original content, as previously announced, Dalton responded affirmatively, stating, “Nothing has changed since our statement that we are working on an original title.” He acknowledged the time-consuming nature of such an endeavor, adding, “Everything takes time. We are committed to sharpening our skills!”

Bluepoint Games’ journey has been marked by a series of acclaimed remakes and remasters, each project more ambitious than the last. Their most recent triumph, the critically acclaimed Demon’s Souls remake, served as a showcase of the studio’s technical prowess and attention to detail when it launched alongside the PlayStation 5 in November 2020.

Shortly after the game’s release, Sony Interactive Entertainment acquired Bluepoint Games, with the studio revealing plans to venture into creating original content. While details about the project remain scarce, speculation among gaming enthusiasts has ranged from a reimagining of an existing intellectual property to a brand-new gaming experience.

Dalton’s statement has reignited excitement among fans eagerly awaiting further information about Bluepoint Games’ original title. The studio’s track record of meticulously crafted remakes and remasters has set high expectations for their foray into original game development.

Nothing has changed since our statement that we are working on an original title. Everything takes time. We are committed to sharpening our skills!

— Peter Dalton (@peter_dalton) June 19, 2024

As Bluepoint Games continues to “sharpen its skills,” the gaming community eagerly anticipates the unveiling of this ambitious project, which could potentially showcase the studio’s creative vision and technical mastery in an entirely new light.

While the wait may be prolonged, Dalton’s reassurance that work on the original title is ongoing serves as a tantalizing reminder of the studio’s commitment to delivering a gaming experience that lives up to Bluepoint Games’ esteemed reputation.
