In an unexpected turn of events, XSEED Games has inadvertently confirmed the Western release of “Ys Memoire: The Oath in Felghana” for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and PC. The leak occurred through a prematurely posted and subsequently deleted message on the publisher’s X (formerly Twitter) account.
The now-removed post stated, “Time is running out to try our [Anime Expo 2024] demos and cosplay photo op. Only one day left to play the [demo] for Ys Memoire: The Oath in Felghana.” This unintentional announcement has sparked excitement among fans of the long-running Ys series.
“Ys Memoire: The Oath in Felghana” is an HD remaster of the classic action RPG, already available in Japan for PS4, PS5, and PC. This updated version boasts fully voiced cutscenes, with Yuki Kaji reprising his role as the protagonist Adol, and narration by Banjoy Ginja. The remaster also offers the option to switch between updated and original character illustrations on PC and PSP versions.
While XSEED has not officially announced a release date for Western territories, the presence of a playable demo at Anime Expo 2024 suggests that a launch may not be far off. The expo, running from July 4 to July 7, will host XSEED Games at Booth E-110.
For eager fans unwilling to wait, a 2012 Steam version of the game is currently available with a 70% discount until July 11. This older release has garnered a “Very Positive” rating on Steam, with 94% of user reviews recommending the game.
XSEED’s Anime Expo lineup also includes other anticipated titles such as “Naruto Emblem Battle,” “Corpse Party II: Darkness Distortion,” “Farmagia,” and “Potionomics Masterwork Edition.” Of particular interest is “Farmagia,” a game that combines monster army command with farming mechanics, following its recent showcase in a Nintendo Direct.
The Ys series has a strong reputation for delivering compelling action RPG experiences. The most recent mainline entry, “Ys IX: Monstrum Nox,” received praise for its gameplay innovations while maintaining core elements that long-time fans appreciate.
As fans await official confirmation and release details for “Ys Memoire: The Oath in Felghana,” this accidental leak has certainly heightened anticipation for XSEED’s presence at Anime Expo 2024.
