The popular Apple TV+ comedy series “Ted Lasso” could be coming back for more. Warner Bros. Television, the studio behind the show, has reportedly taken steps that suggest a potential fourth season is in development.
According to sources close to production, Warner Bros. has opted to extend contracts for three of the show’s original starring actors – Hannah Waddingham, Brett Goldstein, and Jeremy Swift. This means the actors, who are members of the UK’s Equity union, are now lined up to return if a new season moves forward.
The studio is also said to be pursuing new deals with Jason Sudeikis, Brendan Hunt and Juno Temple, who are represented by SAG-AFTRA. Sudeikis and Hunt created the series and serve as its executive producers in addition to starring roles. Securing their involvement, as well as Temple, would be high priorities.
While Sudeikis’ appearance on screen is still uncertain, sources say he is expected to remain involved as an executive producer. This development implies that even if Ted Lasso himself doesn’t feature prominently, Sudeikis will still play an important part shaping any potential new season.
If negotiations and production planning progress smoothly, insiders estimate filming for Season 4 could start in 2025. This timeline would represent a notable gap since the Season 3 finale aired in May 2023. That episode was widely seen by many viewers and industry insiders as the end of the show’s run.
However, Apple TV+ has yet to confirm Season 3 was meant to be the final season. Their lack of confirmation leaves open the possibility for more episodes. As news surfaces of a probable comeback, fans and critics are speculating about potential new storylines and how the focus may change without Ted Lasso at the center.
“Ted Lasso” has been very popular for Apple TV+, earning praise and loyal fans and underscoring streaming services’ interest in successful established shows. As deal discussions continue and details emerge, audiences will be watching closely to see if the heartwarming comedy will indeed return to the pitch for Season 4.
