The popular slasher franchise “Scream” will return to theaters on February 27, 2026, with a new film starring known faces and new talent. Anna Camp, a veteran actress, has joined the cast, adding to the buzz around this highly anticipated horror sequel.
Kevin Williamson, the original screenwriter who redefined the horror genre with the breakthrough 1996 film, will return as director. Guy Busick wrote the script, while James Vanderbilt, William Sherak, and Paul Neinstein of Project X Entertainment will produce.
Neve Campbell will reprise her legendary role as Sidney Prescott, while Mason Gooding returns as Chad Meeks-Martin. Isabel May, who will play Sidney’s kid, joins Celeste O’Connor, Asa Germann, Mckenna Grace, Sam Rechner, and, most recently, Anna Camp.
Camp is recognized for her work in “Pitch Perfect” and “The Help.” Her selection comes at a critical juncture for the franchise, following the success of “Scream VI,” which grossed over $108 million in the United States alone, bringing the franchise’s total global earnings beyond $900 million.
However, the cast for this new picture will vary significantly. Melissa Barrera and Jenna Ortega, both members of the “Core Four” established in the 2022 relaunch, will not return. Barrera was pulled from the project owing to her social media statements about the Israel-Hamas conflict, whereas Ortega had already left. Jasmin Savoy Brown’s situation remains uncertain.
Camp’s latest work includes performances in Peacock’s “Hysteria!”, upcoming roles in the action comedy “Bride Hard,” and the last season of Netflix’s “You.” Her ability to excel in comedy and drama is a fascinating dimension to the “Scream” universe.
For die-hard fans, this latest sequel marks another chapter in a franchise that has constantly changed since Wes Craven’s initial film. With Williamson back in command and a mix of old and new talent, “Scream 7” hopes to offer the exhilarating meta-horror that has defined the franchise for nearly three decades.
