Four Black women in Manhattan are the focus of Amazon’s comedy series, which will end with its upcoming third season. The final season will start on Prime Video on January 23.
The news came out at the same time as the trailer for the show’s final season, which hints at big changes for the key characters as they deal with big life changes. Tracy Oliver, the show’s author, thanked God for the opportunity to share these tales in such a famous place.
“It’s been an incredible journey, and I’m honored to see the impact it’s made in the culture,” Oliver said. “I’m excited to finally share our best season yet.”
Camille (Meagan Good), Quinn (Grace Byers), Angie (Shoniqua Shandai), and Tye are the four friends who are the focus of the 2021 television series. The final season will focus on the characters’ growth by exploring themes like motherhood, being single, being a sister, and job problems.
During the final season, several well-known actors will play recurring parts. Kofi Siriboe, known for his work on “Queen Sugar,” will play the charming baseball player Seth. Portia, a character with ties to Ian’s past, will be played by Logan Browning, who you may know from “Dear White People.” Along with that, Robin Givens and Gail Bean will play supporting parts.
Vernon Sanders, head of television for Amazon MGM Studios, recognized the series’ cultural influence. “As we prepare to say goodbye to this incredible series, we’re grateful for the journey Tracy has taken us on,” he added. We are excited for our global customers to experience a final season that truly honors these characters.”
Amazon MGM Studios, Universal Television, and Paper Kite Productions made the series. Amy Poehler, Kim Lessing, Dave Becky, Britt Matt, and Pharrell Williams are some executive producers.
Starting January 23, new shows will be added to Prime Video weekly.
