According to Peacock, a revival of the supernatural drama “Grimm” is under development. David Greenwalt and Jim Kouf, the original show’s writers and showrunners, will return for this new project. Josh Berman, who has written for “Drop Dead Diva,” “CSI,” and “The Blacklist,” is writing the project.
Not much is known about the revival yet. Talks are going on right now about whether it will be a full-length movie or a new series. Sean Hayes and Todd Milliner are the original executive directors of the production team. Milliner’s Hazy Mills Productions and Universal Television are running the project.
From 2011 to 2017, NBC broadcast the original “Grimm” in six seasons. The show was about Detective Nick Burkhardt from Portland, Oregon, played by David Giuntoli. Nick learns that he is a descendant of the Grimms, a family of guards who keep the balance between humans and mythical creatures called Wesen. Bitsie Tulloch, Silas Weir Mitchell, Russell Hornsby, Sasha Roiz, Reggie Lee, Bree Turner, and Claire Coffee were some of the actors who appeared in the show.
Since the end of the original series, there have been two attempts to expand the “Grimm” world. Greenwalt and Kouf would be consulting producers on NBC’s 2018 plan for a separate show led by women and written by Melissa Glenn. However, that project did not go any further than the development stage.
The original series ended with a flash-forward showing Nick’s son Kelly carrying on the family tradition as a Grimm. Along with his father, mother Adalind, half-sister Diana, and the children of other major characters, he fought. There is still no word on whether any of the original group members will return for the revival. According to sources, the project aims to draw in both old and new followers.
The development of this “Grimm” revival adds to Peacock’s growing list of remakes and adaptations. The streaming service wants to add more original shows to its library.
