Los Angeles police have linked a June break-in at Brad Pitt’s Los Feliz home to a wider series of burglaries targeting prominent residents and have arrested four teenagers they say were part of an organized crew. Investigators said the suspects, ages 16 to 18, were taken into custody after a surveillance operation and that items believed to be stolen were recovered. Police described the group as affiliated with a street gang that monitored public schedules and social media to time entries when homes were empty.
The incident occurred on June 25 around 10:30 p.m. on the 2300 block of North Edgemont Street. At least three masked individuals were seen scaling a fence before shattering a window and ransacking rooms. Pitt was out of the country promoting his racing drama at the time.
Authorities said the arrests were made late last week in South Los Angeles, part of a broader investigation into residential burglaries affecting affluent neighborhoods. Police have not publicly detailed what was taken from the property or confirmed the ownership in official filings, though the residence is widely reported as belonging to the actor.
Detectives believe the crew used tactics intended to defeat home security, including the possible use of Wi-Fi interference to disrupt cameras, alongside real-time tracking of travel through publicly visible posts. Law enforcement in Los Angeles has previously warned about technology-aided burglaries and urged residents to review alarm connectivity and avoid broadcasting travel in advance.
The case comes amid a months-long uptick in high-profile break-ins. Recent victims reported to police include Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban at a gated Beverly Hills-area residence, soccer player Olivier Giroud during his stint with the city’s MLS club, and actor Austin Butler at his Los Angeles home earlier this year. Police have said the pattern appears to target wealth and opportunity, not specific individuals, though recognizable names can be especially vulnerable when travel is public.
