Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – Infinity Castle remained atop South Korea’s box office for a third straight weekend, selling about 499,120 tickets and adding an estimated $3.8 million between Sept. 5–7. The film has now reached roughly 3.96 million admissions and $30.7 million in cumulative gross in the market, according to official tracking data.
“The Conjuring: Last Rites” entered the chart in second place with approximately $1.2 million from 164,695 admissions, a strong local start that mirrors the horror title’s robust global rollout. Industry figures put the film’s worldwide opening at about $187 million, including roughly $83 million in North America and a record $14.3 million domestic IMAX debut for a horror release, underscoring continued audience appetite for franchise scare fare.
Korean newcomer “Murder Report” opened behind the two imports to place third over the same frame, as the market’s late-summer mix of imported event pictures and local titles continues to drive turnout.
“Infinity Castle” has benefited from premium-format uptake in Korea, with 4DX and other PLF screens helping sustain momentum after its record opening week. Local trade coverage last week noted the film had held the No. 1 daily position for 13 consecutive days and had already cleared 3.4 million admissions before this weekend, a trajectory that set up the near-4 million milestone now in sight.
The anime feature’s broader rollout continues: theatrical releases in the U.S. and UK are slated for Sept. 12, with early-access screenings beginning Sept. 9 for certain subscribers, positioning the title for additional offshore gains as it builds on its Asia-first launch.
