Apple TV+ has ordered a fifth season of The Morning Show, extending the drama one day before its fourth season debuts on September 17, 2025. The renewal keeps Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon at the center of one of the service’s flagship series; both continue as stars and executive producers alongside showrunner Charlotte Stoudt and director and executive producer Mimi Leder. Apple’s head of programming Matt Cherniss called the series “a standout from the very start,” citing its appeal to viewers worldwide.
Season 4 opens in spring 2024 within the show’s timeline and follows a newsroom reshaped by a completed UBA–NBN merger. Storylines engage with questions of truth and accountability in a polarized media environment, including plotlines about deepfakes and misinformation. Returning cast members include Billy Crudup, Mark Duplass, Nestor Carbonell, Karen Pittman, Greta Lee, Nicole Beharie, and Jon Hamm. New additions for the upcoming run include Marion Cotillard, Jeremy Irons, Aaron Pierre, William Jackson Harper, and Boyd Holbrook.
The renewal underscores the show’s status as an anchor of Apple’s originals slate since its 2019 launch. Across its first three seasons, the series earned multiple industry honors, with Crudup winning two Emmys for supporting actor and the third season landing 16 Emmy nominations. Media Res chief Michael Ellenberg, an executive producer, praised the creative team’s “collective talent, passion and commitment” and said the new season offers more room for the ensemble to shine.
Apple announced the pickup as the platform rolls out weekly episodes for Season 4. The new chapter continues to mine corporate power struggles and interpersonal fault lines inside the fictional network while widening its lens to the uses and abuses of AI. The combination of marquee talent, timely themes, and steady audience interest appears to have convinced the streamer to press ahead, with production details for Season 5 to be announced at a later date.
