Netflix has renewed The Lincoln Lawyer for a fifth season, locking in another 10-episode run ahead of the show’s Season 4 premiere on Feb. 5. The pickup arrives before new episodes have even hit the service, a sign of confidence in the legal drama’s ability to keep audiences coming back to Mickey Haller’s backseat courtroom.
Season 5 will draw from Michael Connelly’s novel Resurrection Walk, the seventh entry in the author’s Mickey Haller series. Creator and co-showrunner Ted Humphrey and co-showrunner Dailyn Rodriguez said the team is “already hard at work on the next one,” calling Season 4 their most “challenging” and “personal” run for Haller so far.
The early renewal comes as Season 4 sets Haller up for a rare role reversal. The previous season ended with the defense attorney arrested after police discovered the body of his former client, Sam Scales, in the trunk of his car. Season 4 opens with Haller preparing for his toughest case yet: defending himself at trial.
Manuel Garcia-Rulfo is set to continue leading the series, with Neve Campbell, Becki Newton, Jazz Raycole, Angus Sampson, and Cobie Smulders also listed as returning cast. The series is produced by A+E Studios and has continued to move through Connelly’s book lineup season by season, with Season 4 adapting The Law of Innocence before shifting to Resurrection Walk next year.
