Tyler Cameron used a ballroom stage to tell his late mother, and a national television audience, that he is about to become a father. The former Bachelorette runner-up and his fiancée, Tate Madden, announced Tuesday on Dancing with the Stars that they are expecting their first child. Host Alfonso Ribeiro helped reveal the baby’s sex as pink confetti filled the ballroom, confirming a daughter. Both Cameron and Madden burst into tears.
The reveal came during a contemporary routine with pro partner Sharna Burgess on Dedication Night, danced to Ed Sheeran’s “Supermarket Flowers” and dedicated to Cameron’s late mother. Her name was Andrea. A recorded letter to her played over the dance. Madden joined him on the floor, and the couple cradled her baby bump. “She’s going to be the most incredible mama, just like you,” Cameron said in the letter. The judges awarded the performance 32 out of 40.
Cameron had laid a trail of clues. He introduced Madden as a special guest during the week, then posted a TikTok captioned “can’t wait to hit the floor with these 3” and changed it to “these 2,” blaming a typo. Commenters guessed at once. Afterward, his Instagram page showed him kissing Madden’s stomach, with the caption “Baby Cameron coming 2027.” “I get to be a girl dad, what a gift,” Cameron told the audience. The couple later told People they are “so excited,” and Cameron said the baby will change everything in their lives. He said his mother would have loved Madden.
The announcement adds a family storyline to a season in which Cameron has steadily improved. He opened the season with a tango that earned 17 out of 30. Madden, a regular in the studio audience, has urged him to dance with more heat and flirtation alongside Burgess.
The relationship began on a work site. The two met in 2022 during production of Going Home with Tyler Cameron, the Amazon Prime series about his construction company. Madden worked on the project as a photographer. Cameron proposed in the Florida Keys, and he shared the news on Instagram on August 15. The couple is taking its time with wedding plans.
