“South Park,” now airing under the name “South America,” turned its sights on tech billionaires Wednesday night, with Butters leading a campaign to drive the superrich out of town.
The second episode of the season, “Billionaire Weenietown,” aired on Comedy Central at 10 p.m. ET. Butters, the series’ perpetually sweet-natured victim, loses his temper when data centers built by wealthy newcomers keep knocking out his electricity. The outages cut off his favorite show, Dr. Pimple Popper. He blames “billionaire weenies,” whom the episode draws as literal penises. In the end he calls an exterminator to remove the entire billionaire neighborhood.
The writers added a swipe at real-world debates. A billionaire character warns that a new strain of the species likes to appear on podcasts and argue publicly with Mark Ruffalo, who is fighting the Paramount-Warner Bros. merger. The episode also lampoons anti-vaccine sentiment through Butters’ parents, who blame his vaccination for turning him into a liberal. An AI version of President Donald Trump returns.
Creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone have committed to the new title, announced before the season began as a jab at Trump’s renamings of places such as the Gulf of Mexico. The premiere, “South American Biker Gangs,” drew 4.2 million viewers in three days across Comedy Central and Paramount+. The new opening sequence includes a dancing Trump character alongside the usual cast. Some viewers called the name change divisive.
Reaction to the second episode leaned approving. One reviewer said it silenced anyone who thought the series had lost its edge, and that even Butters now sounds angry about AI infrastructure.
Parker and Stone have built the season around current targets, and the schedule shows how tightly they plan to hold the pace. New episodes arrive October 14, October 28, November 11 and November 25. Paramount+ streams each one the following day in the United States, Canada and Australia, and the same day in the United Kingdom.
