With Mortal Kombat 1 gearing up for its release this coming mid-September, there’s a whirlwind of anticipation among the hardcore fans. While the cinematic trailer has already sparked off a wave of excitement, an array of lingering questions continues to add fuel to the growing suspense.

As we wait with bated breath for the first gameplay trailer, emerging clues and rumors seem to stir up more intrigue than clarification.

NetherRealm Studios, on its official website, confirmed that the legendary actor and martial arts expert Jean-Claude Van Damme will feature in the game as a special skin for the character Johnny Cage. However, the latest buzz suggests that two more celebrities might also be joining this highly anticipated project.

The Stars of the Rumor Mill

A recent rumor has sparked speculation that actress Megan Fox and rapper Travis Scott might have roles in Mortal Kombat 1. However, the specifics of their potential involvement remain shrouded in mystery.

In a recent episode of the Sacred Symbols podcast, journalist Colin Moriarty added to the speculation, asserting that both Megan Fox and Travis Scott would be involved in the fighting title in some capacity. Moriarty cited an anonymous source, the same one who revealed Van Damme’s appearance prior to the official trailer release.

Moriarty did, however, caution that the veracity of the information couldn’t be confirmed. “I don’t know if that’s true, but let me tell you that the person who told me that Jean-Claude Van Damme was in this game told me that Megan Fox and Travis Scott are too,” he said.

Star-studded Speculation

Should Fox and Scott indeed make appearances in Mortal Kombat 1, it raises questions about the nature of their roles. The most plausible scenario suggests they might be special skins for a couple of characters, or they could possibly lend their voices to characters, akin to Ronda Rousey’s involvement in Mortal Kombat 11 back in 2019.

Both Fox and Scott are not new to the gaming industry. Fox, an avid gamer herself, had expressed her desire to play the character Kitana in a franchise movie. Scott, on the other hand, had a special in-game concert and appeared as a skin in Fortnite.

At this point, it’s important to highlight that neither Warner Bros. Games nor NetherRealm Studios have confirmed the inclusion of these celebrities in the game. Hence, while this news adds a tantalizing twist to the Mortal Kombat 1 narrative, it’s advisable to take it with a pinch of salt until there’s an official announcement.
