Piranha Bytes, the renowned development studio responsible for popular gaming titles such as Gothic, Risen, and Elex, is actively working on a new project. The upcoming game, currently known by its codename WIKI6, is expected to hit the market in early 2026.
The confirmation about the game’s development and anticipated release timeline comes in the wake of an announcement stating that the project will benefit from a substantial grant provided by the German Ministry of Economy. This grant amounts to a generous sum of €3,168,513.
WIKI6: Securing One of the Largest Grants in German Gaming
Interestingly, this financial contribution ranks as the second largest grant ever received by a video game project in Germany. The record is currently held by the game Chorus, developed by Fishlabs, which secured an impressive €5.5 million grant.
Piranha Bytes’ recent funding boost adds to a pattern of past contributions the studio has received from the German state, increasing the total public funds acquired by local studios of the Embracer Group in Germany to a noteworthy $15 million.
Anticipating the Unveiling of WIKI6
Details regarding the nature of the upcoming game remain shrouded in mystery. However, given Piranha Bytes’ track record, it is plausible to speculate that the new title could be a hardcore RPG. It might also be a possible sequel to Elex 2, as the Elex series was originally envisioned as a trilogy.
Nevertheless, these are purely speculative conjectures and no official information has been released to confirm these theories. As it stands, fans and gaming enthusiasts will have to exercise patience and await further announcements during the three-year lead up to the highly anticipated launch of WIKI6.
