In the dynamic and competitive world of online gaming, players are always on the lookout for strategies that give them an edge. Recently, a new movement tactic in “Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3” has caught the attention of both players and developers.
This technique, which players have termed ‘snaking,’ involves an unusual form of movement that mimics the slithering of a snake. Players using this method can move quickly across the ground while in a prone position, providing a significant tactical advantage in gunfights.
Sledgehammer Games, the developer behind “Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3,” has acknowledged the existence of this movement exploit and is currently investigating it.
The technique, while innovative, is seen as an imbalance in gameplay by many in the community. The developers have recognized the need to address this issue to maintain the integrity and fairness of the game.
How Players Execute the ‘Snaking’ Movement
The ‘snaking’ exploit is executed through a specific set of actions within the game’s settings. Players first need to enable the Automatic Sprint option in the Keyboard & Mouse settings menu. They then assign the action to change the player’s stance to the prone position to the mouse’s scroll wheel.
Additionally, setting the mouse wheel’s input delay to zero is crucial. This configuration allows players to jump and move forward while simultaneously scrolling the mouse wheel to enter a prone position, thus enabling them to move at sprinting speed while crawling.
Despite this exploit, “Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3” has been performing well in terms of player engagement. Activision, the game’s publisher, recently announced that the game has set several engagement records. However, specific sales numbers, which would give a clearer picture of the game’s market performance, have not been released yet.
